Model, musician and meatball entrepreneur Jay Lyon, aka Miranda Kerr and Whitney Port‘s ex-boyfie, is closing the doors of his Original Meatball Company (OMC) restaurant in Sydney’s CBD, less than a year after opening.

Jay, whose real name is Brent Tuhtan but gets two names a la fellow reality star Justin Bobby, says the closure of the York Street store is in the best interest for the company. “This is simply a strategic move for OMC so we can set the platform for potential growth,” The City star told Daily Mail Australia.

Jay’s co-founder, former CEO of Gelatissimo, Dominic Lopresti, hints that we’ll still get our fair share of amaze-balls, though. “The York Street site was not ideal for the concept so we decided to close the doors and start looking for new opportunities which are better suited to the brand,” Dominic said.
But it looks like the new venture will either not be in Australia or not involve Jay, with an OMC spokesperson saying the meatball mogul is pretty focused on overseas and his new bae, model Melinda Kemp, at the moment. “He is pursuing several opportunities overseas and is quite busy with that gorgeous new girlfriend of his.”
Keep your eyes on the ball, mate.
