Clueless: The Musical Gets Green Light, All Your 90s Dreams Come True

Prepare to fall butt crazy in love with 90s classic Clueless all over again, because director Amy Hecklering has confirmed that a musical adaptation is most definitely happening.

Speaking to ET, Amy said the “jukebox musical” has been written, and that Kristin Hanggi, well known for directing Rock of Ages which ran on Broadway from 2009 to 2015, will direct the Dodger Theatricals production.

Heckerling was way harsh by not offering up any details on potential songs we can expect in the musical, totally buggin’, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for “Kids in America” and “Supermodel” to make all our 90s dreams come true at once. “Rollin’ with the Homies” and “Shoop” definitely wouldn’t go astray, either.

As for casting talent to play the roles of Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy, Heckerling revealed “that’s like going to be like the main problem”.

Last July, before the musical was even officially confirmed, Katy Perry as virgin-who-can’t-drive Cher Horowitz was up for discussion. “Katy Perry has expressed interest, and I love her to death,” Heckerling said at the time, also noting that the musician’s in-demand schedule could prove difficult. She added, “Maybe Iggy [Azalea] would do it!”
