Samara Weaving Lands First Leading Movie Role

One of our all-time fave Summer Bay alumnis Samara Weaving has landed her first major role in Tinseltown, set to play the leading actress in McG’s The Babysitter

With the film still in the development stages, little information has been shared, however, we do know that the plot will see a 12-year-old boy and his babysitter’s night take an unexpected turn for the worst.

The role will mark Samara’s first major gig on the big screen, with sources revealing the news to VarietySamara has shared a screenshot of the article on her Instagram as well, leading us to believe that she has indeed been cast.

Since leaving her Home & Away character Indigo Walker behind in 2013 to follow in the footsteps of fellow soapie success stories like Chris Hemsworth, Samara has managed to score smaller roles in Paramount’s Monster Trucks and Bad Girl, both in post-production.

The Babysitter‘s producer and director, McG, full name is Joseph McGinty Nichol, is best known for resurrecting the Charlie’s Angels franchise on film with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu.

With McG’s impressive resume behind him, we think this could be the long-time Bonds ambassador and Aje afficionado’s big Hollywood break. We can’t wait to see it unravel, and can rest assured her promo circuit wardrobe will be on-point.
