America’s Next Top Model Is Officially Over

You wanna be on top? Well, you’re going to have to find another way to get there, because after 12 years and 22 seasons on air, America’s Next Top Model is coming to an end.

In the worst Tyra mail we’ve ever received, creator and host Tyra Banks announced the cancellation of the show on social media this morning with a long, heartfelt message to her fans.

“Thinking #ANTM #cycle22 should be our last cycle. Yeah, I truly believe it’s time,” her Instagram post read. “Wow, I am SO proud of what Top Model has done. #ANTM brought the intimidating modeling world to the masses. We were the first reality show based in the fashion world,” she continued.

Produced by The Tyra Banks Co. and housed by The CW network, the show has launched careers for several models and actresses including Adrianne Curry, YaYa DaCosta and Analeigh Tipton, to name a few. Over the years it has celebrated imperfections and diversity, opening the modelling industry up to accept models no matter their race, body size, skin condition, height and more. It has multiple spinoffs around the world, including Australia and New Zealand.

The last ever America’s Next Top Model episode will air on December 4 for Cycle 22’s series finale, which also happens to be the smize queen’s birthday.

So long, America’s Next Top Model. It’s been fabulous.
