‘Fashion Designer’ Shardz Hourani Pleads Guilty to 14 Indecent Assaults

Back in June dozens of aspiring models rallied together to expose "fashion designer" Shardz Hourani, claiming that he both sexually and emotionally harassed them during swimwear photo shoots for his label Sanija Fashion.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Shardz told the models he was just checking the bikini fits and placing their bodies into the right poses, but has now pleaded guilty to 14 indecent assaults committed between 2011 and April 2015, at Waverley Court on Tuesday morning.

According to the police facts, some victims were asked about their breast size, subject to religious discrimination and made to feel unprofessional and unwilling in the situation.

"Sorry, honey, just trying to see what size breasts you have," he told one woman before groping her, according to the police facts. Another victim questioned him about where he was touching her during a beach shoot, to which he replied, "Yeah, just got to get you in a pose."

Other harmful acts according to police facts were of the emotionally destructive kind, including comments like, "You killed Jesus because you're a Jew" and "You need to let your guard down if we are going to work together."

The police fact sheet explains that the violating experience has put these girls off modelling work forever. "As a result of these offences, the victims are still quite upset and some have decided never to work in the modelling industry," it read.

Over 3,000 people have now liked the Say No to Sanija Fashion Facebook page, encouraging models to report abuse by Shardz, who remains on bail before returning to a court for sentencing on December 15.
