Legendary supermodel Cindy Crawford may have walked her last runway and posed for her last photo shoot. After decades in the modeling industry, Crawford announced that she is officially retiring.
One of the most iconic supermodels of her generation with a look that epitomized 90s style, Crawford enjoyed an illustrious career that spanned 30 years. In 1995, she was named the highest-earning model in the world by Forbes.
On the eve of her 50th birthday, she told United Airlines’s Rhapsody Magazine she’s ready to start a new chapter in life. “I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore,” she said. “And that’s OK. I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself. I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”
What’s next for Crawford? She’ll most likely continue to promote her book Becoming which chronicles her time in the fashion industry, and manage her daughter’s modeling career.
At least with Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood video and Balmain’s Spring 2016 campaign, she can say she went out with a bang.
