Kaia Gerber has been making headlines lately thanks to fashion collaborations with several of the biggest names in the industry (think Karl Lagerfeld and Vogue). Today, she can add Yves Saint Laurent to her growing portfolio because the French fashion house just announced Gerber as the newest makeup ambassador for YSL Beauté.
The 17-year-old’s independence and youthful confidence make her the perfect ambassador for YSL Beauté’s makeup, the fashion house said in a statement. “[W]ith notable campaigns and catwalks under her belt, the much sought-after model has earned a name for herself in her own right, with covers for trend-setting publications like i-D, Love and Pop as well as well-established magazines like Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, and Teen Vogue already achieved,” YSL said.
This won’t be the young model’s first beauty campaign. At just 15 years old, Kaia served as the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty
Gerber’s ambassadorship will start with a campaign in January 2019 to be photographed by David Sims. She will be the face of the iconic moisturizing lipstick Rouge Volupté Shine, as well as of Touche Éclat and Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils.
Above all, the supermodel progeny hopes to inspire positivity in people’s lives, especially encouraging others to take care of themselves, to be kind to themselves and to feel confident about the way they look. “To be the new face of YSL Beauté is an opportunity to write a new story full of fun,” said Gerber. “I love the DNA of a brand that is so subversive while being so luxurious and cool.”
