Sarah Jessica Parker covers Vogue’s August 2011 Age Issue and forum members are experiencing déjà vu with Mario Testino’s photograph. “Same angle and side as [her previous May 2010 cover],” noted Kite. “Turn to side: Check! Tilted head: Check! Hand on Hip: Check! Pink text: Check!”
The fear isn’t really that the cover will look bad once we get a better look, it’s more that we’ve seen and heard it all before. MulletProof posted, “I don’t dislike her but it’s ridiculous that they keep putting her on covers so much. What else can she talk about???… her interviews are always so vapid it’s embarrassing. At least it’s not the September issue but still, Sex and the City happened, give it a rest, and she does not dress that good, and she’s not the only person above 40 who cares about fashion. There are so many beautiful women in their 40s, 50s, 60s that are actually worth reading about and with truly and genuine individual style, that are not dressed like Queen Elizabeth one season, in Prada stripes the other season, as a 50s housewife the next one. Why not celebrate that?”
Loladonna was also hoping for someone new to grace the cover of Vogue this month. “What I don’t get with Anna [Wintour] is why she is so slow to embrace a new generation of American actresses. Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, SJP, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon and the like have run their course. We know everything there is to know about them. We aren’t going to discover one of them has the cure for cancer in a new interview. When she does decide to break the cycle of over-used American actresses her choices are inexplicable – Blake Lively? Kate Bosworth? Jessica Biel? Kristen Stewart? Why not Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana or Dakota Fanning?”
Iluvjeisa called the SJP cover “an alarming step in the wrong direction,” but if it’s true that her covers “sell like cupcakes for [US Vogue],” as Miss Dalloway says, then maybe us forum members are the only ones who are sick of all the sugar.
