David Sims photographed models Sigrid Agren, Zuzanna Bijoch, Malgosia Bela and Arizona Muse for Chloé’s Fall 2011 ad campaign, which features designer Hannah McGibbon’s last collection for the brand. Though the collection failed to impress the powers-that-be over at Chloé enough to extend McGibbon’s contract, the ad campaign may redeem it enough to allow her to depart on a high note.
The campaign thus far features a combination of studio shots in black and white and hazy, sun-drenched shots on location in the forest. Images have slowly been trickling out over the past week, but we still haven’t seen much of Malgosia or Arizona in this campaign, so surely there will be more to come.
“Considering how ugly the collection is the result of the ads is rather lovely,” wrote isa.b.elle, who clearly isn’t much of a McGibbon fan.
“My thought exactly,” MulletProof agreed. “They had to come up with something really good and safe to make up for such terrible clothes. It does feel good to see Hannah’s era coming to an end with a positive closure that aims to represent more the spirit of the house rather than the spirit of the past three years. I cannot wait to see what next season will look like under Clare [Waight Keller], I’m pretty sure being the head of Chloé must be everything but a pool of freedom for any designer but I’m still hoping she finds the confidence to deliver great collections and memorable campaigns.”
For me, the sort of dreamy quality of the campaign made me forget that I wasn’t crazy about the collection when I saw it come down the runway. Somehow, even when I don’t like the clothes, the ads make me want to be a Chloé girl.
