Adriana Lima is so firmly entrenched with the boobalicious Victoria’s Secret empire that it’s easy to forget she sometimes has clothes on when she gets her picture taken. She’s so good at selling sex that it was a pleasant surprise to see her looking so beautiful (and yes, still sexy) in a more quietly sophisticated way in Donna Karan’s latest ad campaign. Karan had Russell James photograph the Spring 2012 ad campaign in Haiti, a place that greatly influenced the collection.
Karan told WWD, “I have never used [Adriana] before, and I am totally in love with her. She shows the heart and soul of Haiti.” That’s high praise from Ms. Karan herself, and forum members definitely seem to agree.
“I never thought of [Adriana] as a Donna Karan girl, but well, it’s nice nonetheless,” liberty33r1b conceded.
“I’m happily surprised by this,” jacquelineo wrote. “Adriana looks amazing.”
ALAUU thinks the talent and potential in both model and photographer to create great shots shouldn’t be underestimated. “I don’t know why so many people are surprised that Russell James photographed this,” she commented. “Some of the photographs he has taken for VS in the past have been quite beautiful. He and Adriana work together really well and she looks stunning in this. She pulls off the moody, somber yet sexy look of the campaign and is proving just how versatile she can be.”
“This is where Adriana shines!” happycanadian agreed. “Obviously, she’s an incredible sex-pot bombshell VS girl, but when she’s not being campy and just lets her superlative beauty shine through, there’s no denying that she’s spectacular. I think this is some of her best work. She looks unbelievable.”
