Members of our forums were pretty appalled by the cover. “I’m glad to see Doutzen is back on the cover. However, this looks frightening,” pointed out elle_gb, hitting us off to a bad start straight away.
“It’s like they hired a low rent drag impersonator of Doutzen. Pageant queens have better hair and makeup than that. Come on. What is happening with Vogue Japan? In what dimension, universe, and galaxy is this considered high fashion worthy of being the cover of Vogue?” ranted MON.
Benn98 agreed, echoing, “Yikes!! Are they trying to compete with the rest of the cheesy mainstream Japanese titles? This is bad on so many levels, and a complete waste of Doutzen.”
Sharing the same horrifying sentiments was GivenchyHomme: “As low as this magazine has gone over the past few years (Kendall and Rosie) I would have never expected it to get this bad. It looks like a 9-year-old styled her. The over-sexualized hair and makeup mixed with the flowers and a prairie-esque outfit make for a strange and ugly combination.”
“YIKES…that styling!! Doutzen is so pretty but she can’t even save this cover,” justaguy exclaimed.
“Vogue Japan is getting worse. That makeup and the flowers on the head… It looks like a bridal supplement cover, not Vogue,” chimed in Kanna.
