Members of our forums were quick to descend on the thread. “Looks promising!! I love it when Meisel goes dark and industrial. Cannot say I’m keen on the collage effect, it’s simply not suitable for a cover,” Benn98 commented immediately.

“Classic Vogue Italia. I like it,” added MyNameIs.

Echoing the same attitude toward the cover was MON: “I love this! Classic VI. The VI I love and I love how there’s no caption for it. It’s like the photo itself and Meisel’s name are enough.”

Anlabe32 chimed in, “Seeing the four covers (which is totally unnecessary BTW), I like the one with the smiling girl and the one with Bella the best. And I don’t even like Bella.

“Wow! The editorial is gorgeous! Some of the best Meisel portraits I’ve seen in a while – the closer cropped shots are really just breathtaking!” raved dior_couture1245, soon after the accompanying cover story surfaced.

Yet not everyone was so forthcoming. “I wish they produced more covers with striking images (like portraits a la July 2016), and trying to be less edgy. I see no point here,” sighed a disapproving Srdjan.

“Another disappointing September issue. I guess we should be thankful that it’s not an Instamodel or Lexi [Boling], but this is forgettable and dull. Next. Looking forward to see the October issue, hopefully that’s the [Peter] Lindbergh one,” said an unforgiving vanpersie.
