Marion Cotillard Goes to Christian Dior’s Birthplace for Latest Lady Dior Campaign (Forum Buzz)

Marking Marion Cotillard’s seventeenth appearance as Dior ambassador, the French actress and team shot the newest Lady Dior handbag campaign on location at Monsieur Dior’s childhood home in Granville, France. The idyllic shoot was photographed by Craig McDean and features Marion sitting ever so elegantly on a wicker chair amongst the tranquil floral gardens of the villa for a series of images.

Our forum members seemed to share a mix of emotions toward the campaign. “Everything looks so fake, a shoot in an actual garden would have been lovely,” pointed out an underwhelmed kokobombon, suggesting some major Photoshopping has occurred post-production (and unaware that the campaign was indeed photographed on location).

Also noticing some evident post-production was VogueDisciple93, commenting, “The overall effect is quite assaulting. The lighting is too garish.”

“They keep on shooting in that town, and the result never rings true! That campaign with Natalie, Mica and Julia Nobis was also shot there and people couldn’t believe it because it looked so false. I like the image! It’s more spring than autumn to me, but it’s lovely. I’m just so glad to have some color and glamour, even if it is more pedestrian, back at Dior. It would help if Marion could crack a smile at least,” Benn98 chimed in.

TaylorBinque wasn’t exactly delighted either. “Why bother to go to Granville when you can do that at any garden in Paris. I was hoping they would use [Steven] Meisel like the main campaign. He would make something more cinematic and suits well with Marion Cotillard,” he assessed.

“The drop shadow on the logo is horrendous! The first shot is fine, but I don’t think three others were necessary. A little more variety wouldn’t have hurt,” GivenchyHomme complained.

“Well, I prefer her for Dior [over] Jennifer Lawrence,” added narcyza.
