Here’s hoping 2017 will be the year of diversity as British Vogue kick-starts the new year with a much-welcomed cover appearance by curve model Ashley Graham. The body positivity advocate gets the full Vogue treatment with a stunning portrait by Patrick Demarchelier.

TFS forum members were thrilled to see Ashley, but felt something was missing from the casually styled image. “Finally gets her first Vogue cover but it’s quite a safe cover,” stated TeeVanity the moment the cover struck.
“I’m not a fan of whatever is going on with her mouth, they should have chosen a photo with a different expression,” blueorchid critiqued.
Sharing the same sentiments was Benn98, commenting, “Agreed about her mouth, there’s something odd going on there. Ashley’s of course a great choice to cover this magazine, but I doubt whether this image doesn’t help with Alexandra [Shulman]’s well-intended diversity effort. At least it’s not a close-up like Adele’s last cover.”
Dodencebt felt the same way. “It’s great that it’s Ashley who’s on the cover but I am not a fan of the shot. I agree that her expression is weird – it looks like she smelled something rotten,” he pointed out.
“I like how she looks but I hate the jacket. Everything is just too strong for a January cover,” Srdjan disapproved.
“Is January the most pedestrian month for UK Vogue? Not since Gigi [Hadid] last year has a cover looked so high street. As thrilled as I am for Ashley I have yet to see a magazine really bring out the best in her. I have yet to be…wowed,” added an underwhelmed A.D.C.
Miss Dalloway‘s comment stood out a mile. “So happy, and shocked Ashley finally lands a V͏͏o͏͏g͏͏u͏͏e͏͏ c͏͏o͏͏v͏͏e͏͏r͏͏!͏͏!͏͏ A͏͏n͏͏d͏͏ i͏͏t͏͏’͏͏s͏͏ o͏͏n͏͏e͏͏ o͏͏f͏͏ t͏͏h͏͏e͏͏ b͏͏i͏͏g͏͏ f͏͏o͏͏u͏͏r͏͏s͏͏,͏͏ w͏͏e͏͏l͏͏l͏͏ w͏͏o͏͏r͏͏t͏͏h͏͏ t͏͏h͏͏e͏͏ w͏͏a͏͏i͏͏t͏͏!͏͏!͏͏ I͏͏ d͏͏o͏͏n͏͏’͏͏t͏͏ r͏͏e͏͏s͏͏e͏͏n͏͏t͏͏ a͏͏n͏͏y͏͏t͏͏h͏͏i͏͏n͏͏g͏͏,͏͏ hair h͏͏a͏͏s͏͏ g͏͏o͏͏o͏͏d͏͏ m͏͏o͏͏v͏͏e͏͏m͏͏e͏͏n͏͏t͏͏,͏͏ t͏͏h͏͏e͏͏ j͏͏a͏͏c͏͏k͏͏e͏͏t͏͏ i͏͏s͏͏ o͏͏k͏͏ a͏͏n͏͏d͏͏ s͏͏h͏͏e͏͏ l͏͏o͏͏o͏͏k͏͏s͏͏ s͏͏t͏͏u͏͏n͏͏n͏͏i͏͏n͏͏g͏͏.͏͏ W͏͏h͏͏a͏͏t͏͏ a͏͏ n͏͏i͏͏c͏͏e͏͏ s͏͏u͏͏r͏͏p͏͏r͏͏i͏͏s͏͏e͏͏,” she raved.
