Bella Hadid continues to land major advertising campaigns for the Fall 2017 season. Her latest is the new Max Mara Accessories campaign, for which older sister Gigi served as the face for two consecutive seasons. Bella was photographed by master photographer Steven Meisel for the moody campaign, looking rather melancholy and subdued peering out a window with the brand’s leather tote bag remaining in full focus.
The campaign seemed to leave our forums divided. “Guess mom and dad paid Meisel the big bucks,” snarled DutchHomme within seconds of the campaign coming to light.
“This anti-Hadid circle jerk is getting beyond tired. And these ‘their parents paid for this’ comments are insufferable TBH. Yes, Meisel was paid – by Max Mara to photograph one of the in-demand models of the moment. And it turned out gorgeous!” fired back forum member russianelf.
“Max Mara looks so desperate though. After Gigi comes Bella. I definitely think the first image looks okay. She isn’t giving any more modeling skill than she has given before. For a gorgeous face, she could have become a much better model. Gigi’s campaign was much more dynamic,” voiced TaylorBinque.
Also quick to comment was Benn98. “Nice image, but she doesn’t fit this brand, I’m afraid. She looks too young, and too ‘styled’, so it doesn’t ring true for me. Pains me to say this, but her sister actually fared better. Bella was generally my favorite Instagirl because she at least tried hard enough with her features. But it seems that commanding presence which I’ve come to like is gone now,” he stated.
Lola701 actually liked what she saw, commenting, “It’s beautiful and it’s good for her. I don’t get all the hate. Yes, she is everywhere… like Mica Arganaraz or Julia Nobis some seasons ago. This purist mentality just stops people from enjoying a good photo!”
