Ever since Prada decided to ditch Steven Meisel as campaign photographer, the concepts for its various advertising campaigns have been hit or miss. Willy Vanderperre has now firmly taken over Meisel’s role and is doing just fine with the lucrative gig. Actress Jessica Chastain also seems to be comfortable with her position as the face of Prada, returning to model the Italian fashion label’s Fall 2017 collection. Photographed in a perfectly lit studio, Jessica oozes Old Hollywood glamour in the stimulating black and white photos.

Prada’s latest, however, appears to have divided our forums. “I love Vanderperre for Prada. Stunning images and Jessica looks gorgeous,” commented anlabe32 upon seeing the campaign for the first time.
“Another amazing set of images. This Prada x Willy x Jessica collab is simply perfect! Loving the Horst vibe here, so elegant,” raved Marc10.
“This is exactly how the collection should have been styled on the runway. Instead we got messy hair and styling and too many accessories. This clean cut look is the Prada I want to see and the Prada that they should be presenting,” GivenchyHomme expressed.
Not everyone was so impressed with the campaign. “Nice images but not memorable at all. Prada’s new strategy just doesn’t seem to be working for me,” said an underwhelmed 333101.
“I sound like a broken record but this Vanderperre x Prada thing is just so boring and redundant,” voiced Ed.
Fierceification felt the same way, posting, “I’m already bored to death of Willy V x Prada. This collection was a mouthful to put it lightly, but there was an opportunity to do something really iconic and memorable with it, I feel. However I would honestly never associate either of those words with Vanderperre’s work (particularly recently). This is forgettable dross at best!”
“I needed Meisel,” cried kewkaw.
