Did Amber Valletta Really Need All That Photoshop in Blumarine’s Spring 2018 Campaign?

Irina Shayk and Blumarine proved to be a solid match last season but the Russian model is out for Spring 2018 in favor of Amber Valletta. Sticking with photographic duo Luigi & Iango, the team heads lakeside for the new campaign, making use of the scenic location in a series of black and white, and color shots. Male model Phillip Mayberry, who joins Amber in a few of the campaign images, is clearly outshined by the American beauty.

Our forum members immediately noticed the overt use of retouching in the photos. “Looks good for Blumarine, but the Photoshop on her is too literal. She doesn’t look like herself here. Granted Liugi & Iango often retouch a young girl like Anna Cleveland to hell and back, this still looks eerie,” voiced Benn98 the moment the campaign came to light.

“People need to stop hiring Luigi & Iango and just hire graphic designers. At least a designer might create more realistic looking people,” commented lelaid.

Also quick to point out the obvious use of Photoshop was tigerrouge. “I’d definitely buy the technology that enables Amber’s under-eye area to look this good twenty years on,” she pointed out.

“Amber’s always iconic – airbrushed or no filter. Brings it every time, and no exception here,” defended forum member zoom.

“They should have just booked Camila Akrans if they wanted her style. L&I lack experience outside of the studio and this proves that. They should practice more with editorials before they take on a campaign. They lucked out with Amber because any other model would have made this into a total flop,” stated GivenchyHomme.

Apple felt the same way: “Amber is such a pro, she’s amazing in front of the camera. Luigi and Iango need to stop with that same makeup and Photoshop obsession!”

“I wanted to like these because Amber always delivers but Luigi & Iango lack the charm for outdoors and the concept is like Connecticut housewife goes glam. Everything looks nice but nothing attracts,” disapproved TaylorBinque.
