After two consecutive advertising campaigns shot by Steven Meisel, Zara must have been paying attention to our forum members’ praise when they decided to bring the legendary fashion photographer back for Spring 2018. Shying away from the classic gray backdrops, Meisel switches it up and shoots a handful of his current muses around a bohemian-looking set. Adut Akech, Ansley Gulielmi, Aube Jolicoeur, Cara Taylor, Fran Summers, Kiki Arai, Lea Julian, Remington Williams, Rianne van Rompaey and Vittoria Ceretti were Meisel’s models of choice this season, along with Karl Templer on styling duties.
For the first time, the Meisel-shot campaign left our forums divided. “I love it. The setting and styling looks splendid. Easily one of my favorites so far and yet another small victory for Zara,” applauded Benn98 upon checking out the images.
“I like it. Its perfect for Zara. Zara + Meisel is bringing us the good stuff,” stated ghostwriter10549.
“This gives me major Prada 2000s vibes, I love it” kokobombon approved.
But not everyone was feeling the outcome. “Lookbook at best, should have saved their money on something this insipid!” declared Miss Dalloway.
“I have the feeling that they could have done better,” agreed forum member dcmaike. “This is boring, nice for Zara but as you all already said, more a lookbook than a campaign.”
“It’s striking for Zara, but it leaves much to be desired,” MON wrote.
FashionPower wasn’t here for it either: “This is a NO for me. First of all the clothes look terrible, mix between Prada, Gucci and Stella Jean, too much boho-ethnic for my taste. The casting is quite bad too.”
“It looks like a Gucci Resort lookbook, but then much prettier obviously. Still, it does not look like a campaign,” ranted anlabe32.
