Town & Country June/July 2018 : Karlie Kloss by Max Vadukul

Town & Country Could Have Done So Much More With Karlie Kloss on the Cover

managed to do Cindy Crawford a disservice with two underwhelming covers last month and now the publication fails Karlie Kloss, too. The all-American beauty, who recently appeared on Vogue Thailand and Porter, becomes a T&C cover girl for the magazine’s double June/July 2018 edition. The model-turned-entrepreneur appropriately fronts The Philanthropy Issue this month, wearing Ralph Lauren and photographed by Max Vadukul on location at the Zaha Hadid building in New York City.

Our forum members weren’t all too fond of the outcome. “Looks like a bland rendition of Vogue Australia’s sci-fi Gemma Ward cover. Maybe it’s her ashy blonde, or the dress, but I’m not a fan of this cover,” Benn98 stated at once.

“I like Karlie, could rant on forever how she is long overdue a solo cover of American Vogue, but there’s absolutely nothing about this cover which is working. The styling, the background and overall amateurish photography from Max Vadukul… lackluster cover to say the very least. A wasted opportunity, Town & Country!” vogue28 added.

Also unimpressed was samoanceleb, pointing out, “It looks like the cover of Fast Company or some business magazine!”

“I used to like Karlie when she was a rising star on the pages of US Vogue, but I slowly went off her when she moved beyond that and turned herself into a… do-gooding American superhero,” ranted tigerrouge.

Anlabe32 ultimately felt the same way, commenting, “Ugh, I so agree. She’s annoying, like a robot. Everything carefully thought out, superficial.”

“I have to STRONGLY disagree with everyone here!” Bertrando3 fired back. “She looks AMAZING! SUPERMODEL OF THE XXI CENTURY! Karlie is the epitome of super high-fashion girl who managed to not blip after one or two seasons, and turned her high-end portfolio into a lucrative commercial kingdom!”

Be sure to check out Karlie’s cover feature, see the remaining two covers for the issue and share your thoughts here.
