Vogue España September 2018 : Irina Shayk by Giampaolo Sgura

Irina Shayk Wears Gucci and a Fresh Chop on Vogue Spain’s September Cover

A bit of glamour is always appreciated by our forum members, especially when it comes to September covers — and Vogue Spain delivers this month. The magazine’s love affair with Irina Shayk continues as she makes her fifth cover appearance on the September 2018 issue. Fresh from celebrating Vogue Russia‘s 20th anniversary, the Russian bombshell sports a noticeably shorter hairstyle while flashing some leg in a red Gucci number, shot by photographer Giampaolo Sgura and styled by Juan Cebrian.

The cover, however, failed to impress our forum members from the get-go. “Ugly cover, hideous dress. From Faretta to this…” Perickles wrote the moment the cover dropped.

“Back in time, this shot would be the cue for Barbara Stanwyck to say something about putting a certain sort of woman in a Hollywood dress,” mocked tigerrouge.

“Not even Irina Shayk can turn this Eleanor Roosevelt dress into something sexy. I’m not sure why this edition is so obsessed with her, at least this cover looks better than her last one. I just don’t understand why we hardly see her in campaigns and on the runway, yet here she is, on cover after cover,” said Benn98.

“Well, she is extremely popular in Spain. And probably sells pretty well,” replied forum member anaa lpz. “I like the short hair. I wish it was real!”

Mepps felt the same way toward Irina’s new look: “Short hair looks good on her. Her beauty saves the cover from that hideous dress.”

“She suits this hair, but I agree the styling looks totally out of place,” 333101 added.

“When I first saw this on Instagram, I was like wow, but checking it again, it seems a bit cold… And those shoulder pads – ugh!” Srdjan said.
