Allure February 2019 : Serena Williams by Tanya & Zhenya Posternak

Serena Williams Strikes a Confident Pose on Allure’s February Cover

Just about every single fashion glossy wants Serena Williams to be their cover girl and it sure seems like she’s trying her best to work with them all. In the past two years, the tennis ace has granted InStyle, British Harper’s Bazaar, American Vogue and Vanity Fair their requests. As a result, we aren’t at all surprised to see Serena take to yet another Condé Nast title to kick off 2019. Making her Allure debut for February 2019, Serena was photographed by Tanya & Zhenya Posternak and styled by Jaime Kay Waxman, striking a pose in a figure-hugging Jacquemus number.

Members of our forums weren’t exactly…enthralled with the cover. “Like a retake of her recent Vanity Fair cover, except she kept her clothes on… the two covers could serve as a ‘before and after’ series,” said an underwhelmed tigerrouge.

“Weird cover, not flattering at all. I love the dress and the ponytail, but her pose its not working. Forgettable, unfortunately,” said ghostwriter10549.

“I’m officially fed up with her. Geez, she has covered every possible magazine in such a short space of time,” Marc10 complained.

Srdjan wasn’t here for yet another Serena cover, either. “Wow, 2019 and Allure is still here. If only magazines gave one of these covers Serena gets to Venus, that would be interesting to see,” he noted.

Sharing the same sentiments was forum member Benn98: “So tired of Serena and her body covers. What does she have to say about shape that we’ve not heard before from her? It’s almost as if this is her only currency. There’s a lot wrong with this one. Pose is contrived and overdone, color pairing is all wrong, and the art direction looks amateur. Miss!”

“I love her look. That’s a great dress for her, but she’s such a terrible model. That pose is her go-to stance. She also needs to take a break from fashion mags. She has nothing new to say, and her thirst is tiresome,” said mepps.
