Vogue España November 2020 : Indya Moore by Thomas Whiteside

Indya Moore Becomes Vogue Spain’s First-Ever Transgender Cover Star

The fashion industry is finally getting the memo on Indya Moore. In the last three months alone, we’ve witnessed the American beauty take to the covers of Vogue Italia and Vogue India. Already a firm favorite of Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton, Indya now graces Vogue Spain’s latest becoming the publication’s first-ever transgender cover star. On the Spanish fashion bible’s November 2020 cover, Indya poses wearing a Bottega Veneta dress, gloves from Wing & Weft, Schiaparelli earrings and a Lizzie Fortunato bracelet (all courtesy of Ian Bradley) for the Thomas Whiteside-shot image.

Members of our forums were divided over the outcome. “This is just so beautiful in so many ways. I love to see them finally getting the recognition they truly deserve in the fashion world,” praised slayage.

“Amazing cover!” applauded versustito.

“Much prefer this over those Vogue India and Vogue Italia covers and despite the color and use of the gloves, I find this to be a pretty arresting cover, which I’m sure will stand out on newsstands. Indya’s expressions are very one-note, but Thomas Whiteside has done them justice here!” heralded vogue28.

“Thomas Whiteside has been doing great work for Vogue Spain, but this doesn’t do it for me. Too angular, it’s almost distracting. Terrible styling. Happy for Indya, this is really their moment! Wish I liked the cover more,” said Benn98.

Miss Dalloway wasn’t exactly jumping for joy, either. “Why so many bad shots of them on covers though? Indya can photograph like a dream, but I’ve yet to see a good cover shot! Their face here is awful, eyes are dead, the pose is ridiculous, the styling shameful. NOTHING works…”

“This is a no for me. I don’t get why Vogue Spain chose the ‘ooh, I have a headache’ image as a cover,” Ken Doll Jenner chimed in.

“I love that it’s Indya and there are much better editorial shots inside. That’s all I’m going to say,” added dodencebt.
