There’s certainly room for improvement over at Vogue Australia. Covers starring Naomi Watts, Awkwafina, Adut Akech, Cate Blanchett and Dua Lipa have all missed the mark. Now Edwina McCann welcomes back Amanda Seyfried to the Aussie fashion bible for February 2021 four years after her last appearance. Submerged in a pool of water, the actress wears a dress from Miu Miu’s Spring 2021 collection (selected by stylist George Cortina) while gazing down the lens of photographer Lachlan Bailey for the dynamic and eye-catching cover image.
Vogue Australia’s latest divided our forum members. “Did they murder her?” asked a startled Yohji the moment the cover dropped.
“She has the expression of someone who was thrown into the pool by a drunk high school jock during a prom after-party while wearing her ‘expensive’ BCBG dress,” declared GERGIN.
“One of their better concepts, however, it could have been executed better,” confessed MON.

But not everyone felt the same way. “It’s actually quite beautiful, one of their better covers in recent memory!” raved aracic.
“Judging it by the crap Vogue Australia has been producing lately, this is pretty outstanding. It reminds me of their early 2000s covers…” added A.D.C.
Benn98 is also a fan: “I find it spectacular! Very cinematic, especially paired with the moody neutral tones. Certainly their best cover in years.”
“Quite surprised how much I love this… It’s nice to see Vogue Australia branch out with such a daring cover image, too,” admired vogue28.
“It’s a nice idea. In the end when it comes to looking golden in a blue pool nothing will beat Carolyn Murphy’s June 2005 Vogue Italia cover,” proclaimed mikel.
