Vogue Mexico & Latin America May 2021 : Quannah Chasinghorse by Inez & Vinoodh

Quannah Chasinghorse’s Vogue Mexico May 2021 Cover Divides Our Forum Members

Mexico doesn’t take our fancy every single month. But when it does, we’re all in. The magazine had our undivided attention with a simply stunning Ana de Armas offering for October 2020 and broke new ground back in 2018 with Yalitza Aparicio. Now the Mexican fashion bible presents indigenous beauty Quannah Chasinghorse for May 2021. Captured by photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and styled by George Cortina, the model and activist works a dress from Valentino’s Spring 2021 collection looking ethereal down on a beach in Mexico.

But the cover ultimately fell flat for our forum members. “Hmm, I don’t like it. Something is missing,” said mikel.

“Not even Inez and Vinoodh can save Vogue Mexico,” declared MON.

“So bad…I blame the model and the photo editor. Quannah’s mouth expression and jaw look off. It looks generic…it’s just a girl in a dress at the beach,” expressed an underwhelmed Xone.

Urban Stylin shared the same sentiment: “Unfortunately, the posing makes the cover a little generic.”

“She’s the very first indigenous model to appear on the cover of Vogue Latin America. Remember that Yalitza and Limber Martínez were only on the cover of the Mexican edition. It’s a big moment despite if the picture is good or not. I like it…” approved ivano.

“Must admit that I had no idea who Quannah Chasinghorse was until now, but I find this cover rather beautiful… The colors are gorgeous, the use of the Valentino dress is superb and definitely one of Vogue Mexico’s better covers!” vogue28 chimed in.
