Kate Moss, Mona Tougaard & Others Pose for Mario Sorrenti in Balenciaga’s Le City Handbag Campaign

Make no mistake that Demna has quite the knack for tapping the most buzz-worthy of subjects for both Balenciaga’s runway spectacles and internet-breaking advertising campaigns, as creative director of the historic and fabled fashion house. After all, campaigns over recent seasons have included everyone from Michelle Yeoh to Kim Kardashian. The Georgian fashion designer fixed his gaze upon Brit modeling icon Kate Moss, Chinese actress and singer Yang Chaoyue, Danish model-of-the-moment Mona Tougaard and South Korean singer Juyeon when casting the campaign to highlight the iconic Balenciaga Le City handbag. Demna called upon Mario Sorrenti to lens the campaign, resulting in a series of classic black and white portraits.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“So Kate Moss is advertising both Fendi and Balenciaga at the same time? That’s quite a statement. I couldn’t care less about the image, though,” voiced thiago.

“This photograph could be so much more, especially from this duo,” sighed MModa.

“OK Saint Laurent…” noted GivenchyAddict, suggesting the campaign wasn’t on-brand for Balenciaga.

Also not exactly jumping for joy was DK92, sharing: “Balenciaga’s campaigns have become a pile of tedious photos. Even [Alexander] Wang managed to surprise us and deliver something better produced!”

“Fashion has given up,” declared a disapproving Urban Stylin.
