Anya Taylor-Joy Channels Brigitte Bardot as Vogue Australia’s June 2024 Cover Star

As editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, Christine Centenera continues to flex her ability to drop covers featuring some pretty big-named stars from the world of fashion and entertainment. Throughout 2024, Centenera has been able to count everyone from Nicole Kidman to Angelina Kendall and Naomi Campbell to Zendaya as cover accomplishments. Up next is none other than Anya Taylor-Joy, who returns to the Aussie fashion bible’s front cover two years after her last. Via the lens of Josh Olins and George Cortina reporting for styling duties, the star of George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga makes an appearance as the mag’s June 2024 cover star. In the sun-drenched cover shot, the actress seemingly channels French style icon Brigitte Bardot and poses in a striped Christian Dior look (to which Taylor-Joy is brand ambassador) and dons Tiffany & Co. jewelry (and you guessed it – another brand to which Taylor-Joy is brand ambassador).

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I mean, I don’t know what to reasonably expect from Vogue Australia anymore, but that typeface is so amateur looking. The cropping of the photo is odd to me, too… why cut off half the feet?” asked blueorchid.

“When you look back at the amount of effort magazines used to put into creating their covers – crafting their cover blurb, selecting the colors, putting time aside during the shoot to capture images solely designed to work on the front of the issue . Now, you get covers where they don’t think it’s worth ensuring the subject is completely in frame,” tigerrouge chimed in.

Forum member thenewclassic wasn’t exactly smitten either, commenting: “It looks like a digital cover!”

“Hahahahaha… NO!” exclaimed an equally as underwhelmed oaklee91.

Yet not everyone was left disappointed. “Quite fond of the cover, despite being firmly of the belief that a smile would’ve elevated this immensely,” confessed vogue28. “There’s a sense of brightness to it which I can appreciate. I like the whole Bardot vibe I’m getting too.”
