Vogue Australia Champions Team Australia on the Magazine’s ‘Lazy’ July 2024 Cover

The 2024 Paris Olympic games are upon us and our fave fashion glossies are getting us hyped for the sports event set to run July 26-August 11. Fresh off the heels of Vogue World: Paris celebrating 100 years of fashion and sport, prior to Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, Vogue Australia gives up its July 2024 edition to five of the country’s finest of athletes. Christine Centenera endorses pole vault champion Nina Kennedy, swimmer Emma McKeon, skateboarding medalist Chloe Covell, Australia’s fastest sprinter Torrie Lewis and professional footballer Mary Fowler. Across the series of collage cover images, Team Australia are captured participating in their respective sports via the lens of Charles Dennington.

“A new low from Vogue Australia… terrible!” exclaimed Xone the moment the cover struck.

“OMFG, I dare to find someone who will find this ‘amazing’. CRAZY BAD. Even on Pinterest you’ll find 1000 times better posters than this. Can’t believe Vogue of all magazines published this,” shrieked Bertrando3.

“It’s a pity that no fashion publication has figured out how to do a good Olympics cover. These are ordinary people, in the best shape of their life, working hard towards achieving their goals – all the things that modern magazines try to tell you they really care about. But no, nobody cares enough to do a decent cover,” voiced an unimpressed tigerrouge.

MyNameIs wasn’t best impressed either, commenting: “This is so lazy it’s downright disrespectful.”

“The layout is so weird. They’re using the idea of the 5 Olympic rings but using the colors out of order? So weird,” blueorchid pointed out.

“The cover looks like an add you see on Instagram. Could look decent on a newsstand though with the white bordering, from a design stand poin. It’s clear and to the point,” defended jeremydante.
