Nicole Kidman, Amelia Gray & Kit Butler Join Kate Moss in Part Two of Balenciaga’s Le City Handbag Campaign

Since the start of 2024, Balenciaga has been rolling out advertising campaigns thick and fast. As the new year commenced, the historic Paris-based fashion house unveiled its ‘Closet‘ campaign, ultimately followed up with its standard mainline Spring 2024 installment. Shortly after, Balenciaga began to shine a spotlight upon its leather goods and bestowed upon us a campaign for the iconic Le City handbag, with campaigns for the Rodeo and Crush handbags rolling out shortly after. The second portion of the Le City campaign is here, as Demna (who has served as Balenciaga creative director since 2015) welcomes back Kate Moss (who appeared in the first chapter back in April), who is joined by Nicole Kidman, Amelia Gray and Kit Butler. Remaining on the books is Mario Sorrenti, with the esteemed Italian-American photographer opting to capture Balenciaga’s latest Le City offering in color.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“As iconic as this bag is, I feel like there is a way more dynamic way to shoot and style it, than this. The Le City had many years of success. It’s one of those items you really have to own to understand as a fashion piece. A smarter campaign strategy would have been to revolve this around Kate Moss (who popularized the bag). Or, to roll with a focus on Nicole Kidman, who could add sophistication to the cool of the bag, which is more casual. Amelia’s pose is super typical and feels like something we’ve seen before,” critiqued jeremydante.

Also not entirely sold was forum member 90sFan, questioning: “Why in the world do Balenciaga keep hiring Mario Sorrenti? Horrible!”

“Much prefer Mario Sorrenti’s photographs in color for this campaign, as opposed to the first batch in black and white. Kate Moss will always and forever be a good idea but I’m kinda into Nicole Kidman here too. She’s looked the same in every recent campaign but GREAT!” championed vogue28.
