People sold 1.5 million copies of its Whitney Houston-covered issue, making it their best-selling issue of the year.
Other magazines saw similar spikes in sales:
- Us Weekly: 710K issues on the newsstand
- InTouch: 625K issues
- Star: 500K issues
- Life & Style (which ran a smaller photo of the late singer, featuring Kim Kardashian as the main cover star): 420K
OK was the only tabloid which didn’t include a leading story about Whitney Houston, or a picture of the star on the cover, sold only 250k issues.
