Nineties It girls from Sade and J.Lo to Selena Quintanilla were all about statement hoop earrings. From shoulder-grazing circles to thicker door-knocker-like designs, the bold look reigned supreme when it came to accessorizing. The humble hoop has come a long way — these days we’ve seen it all, from the overly embellished to the XXL in size.

Brown Lipstick
Where do we start? Brown lipstick is just as synonymous with the 90s as grunge. The rich, earthy color came in every shade from cinnamon to chocolate brown and everyone loved it. Trendy Gen Xers like J.Lo often showed off a tone-on-tone look that was quintessential 90s: Gorgeous natural brunette curls and a glossy copper lipstick to match. If that’s not reason enough to consider the dark side, then we don’t know what is.

Crop Tops
There were bucket hats, logo-emblazoned tees and then there were ab-baring crop tops. A favorite among the ladies of the 90s, skin-revealing crop tops were all the rage. The sultry Salma Hayek even donned a glitzy top with a tulle skirt on the red carpet, further proving that showing your midsection some love is always OK in the name of fashion.

Hair Tendrils
While a middle part was a staple of the 90s, we all remember pinning and clipping hair up to give it a break from a ponytail. Our favorite was a smooth center part updo that was either half up or tied at the nape of the neck. Either way, this sleek style was never complete without a few face-framing tendrils.

It’s 2016 and chokers — from a slim minimalist band to an opulent diamond-encrusted piece — are trending at an all-time high.
