Expert Guide: Bethenny Frankel’s How to Throw the Ultimate Skinnygirl Cocktail Party

Founder of Skinnygirl and media mogul, Bethenny Frankel, shares her secrets to throwing the ultimate Skinnygirl soiree.

The Who/What/Where/When

I like the idea of hosting an after work cocktail party at your home, inviting 15-18 people and focusing on great cocktails and small bites.

The Drinks

Have the bartender muddle some raspberries and/or mint to serve with Skinnygirl on the rocks. Garnish with lime zest and finish by taking an orange peel around the rim of the glass and then pressing it in raw sugar.

The Eats

Guilt Free Artichoke and Spinach Dip and Guacamole are great hors d’oeuvres that pretty much everyone loves. For a more substantial snack, tuna sliders are summery and fresh, as is a crisp, cool shrimp and cucumber salad.

The Tunes

I love artists like Rhianna, Pink, and Coldplay but I make sure to keep the music low so it can be heard only in the background, especially in the early hours of the evening. No one wants to hear Kool and The Gang blaring “Celebration” when they first arrive, you know?

The Games

I went to a party once where teams of 3-4 sat around tables filled with spirits, mixers, and garnishes and we competed to see which group could create the best cocktails from those ingredients. It was a great (and delicious) ice breaker.

The Next Day

If you’re someone who frequents the party circuit often, I recommend the Skinnygirl Cleanse to restore your system. It’s nothing drastic or crazy; it just keeps things moving and is great for those of us who like to indulge now and then.
