“Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas? ?
Who doesn’t love this song! It’s a funky futuristic mix that gets me pump ed up in the morning – on the treadmill or en route through the neighborhood. You don’t have to go fast, you just have to go … ??
“No Diggity” (drum and bass mix) by Aphrodite? ?
Music undoubtedly sets the mood. When I hear an energetic soundtrack, it gives me so much life. I have this song on repeat on my iPod workout playlist. It’s important to enjoy working out, and an upbeat song like this gets my heart racing and brings the gratification back into working out. It’s the one moment in my day where I can clear my mind and be in my zone.
“I’ve Got Five On It” by Aphrodite ? ?
I can do any workout, stretch, marathon to this track… I love the sound of the old school beat with a modern remix that builds my stamina to go the extra mile all day. With my busy schedule on the go, I don’t find the time to workout, I MAKE the time to workout.

“Tightrope” by Janelle Monáe
This immediately gets my hearts beating. I love the old school horn section, like something out of a James Brown hit. Perfect for my cardio kickboxing.
“Take Care” by Drake (featuring Rihanna)
It’s soft and tender, but builds up to a cool House music-inspired dance bridge. Takes me right back to NYC in the 80s and 90s, while on the rowing machine.
“Glad You Came” by The Wanted ? ?
Although I am not a teen, surfing up and down the California coast, this song instantly transports me there. Love to play it on the treadmill.
Dylan Lauren, Owner Dylan's Candy Bar
“Firework” by Katie Perry
The message of this song is: you are capable of anything when you put your mind to it.
Crystal Renn, Model
“All is Full of Love” by Bjork
My workout of choice is often yoga because of the wonderful benefits for the mind. The message of this song makes me feel grounded in myself and connected to all of those around me.
“Two Tongues” by Mariee Sioux
Doing oms is a big part of yoga but when I am alone in my house I love playing music I can sing along to as I do my asanas, and this is one of those songs. Singing or chanting words of poetry, mixed with breathing, while moving through my poses is an invigorating experience. Not only is my heart rate up but my soul soars.
“Alice” by Cocteau Twins
When I get moving is when I get my best ideas, Images come to me and I feel my most creative.
Matt Bernson, Designer
"On to the Next One" by Jay-Z
I always listen to this in the elevator on the way to the gym to keep me headed in the right direction, it gets me pumped and motivated so that I don't turn around and bail, which is way too easy sometimes.
"U.R.A Fever" by The Kills
Somehow this song makes the awkward motion of the elliptical feel cooler and smoother than it really looks.
"Icky Thump" by White Stripes
When I step up to the bench press and realize I am doing some of the lowest weights the bar will handle, Icky Thump makes me feel like I am throwing up NFL style weights.
Eric Daman, Costume Designer
“Girls on Film” by Duran Duran
Because it pushes me to finish my push ups in my East Village studio every morning.
“Heartbreaker” by Led Zeppelin
Because it gets me jumped up to do my jump rope on the weekends at my cabin in the Catskills.
“Express Yourself” by Madonna
Because it gets my heart pounding and helps me express myself for my own private dance party every Friday night.

“Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj Always gets me through my early 8 a.m. workout sessions because the beat is so energizing.
"Remember the Name" by Fort Minor I always listened to this before any big competition or event to get my heart pumping!
"Empire State of Mind" by Alicia Keys Now that I'm a New York girl, I love running the streets of NYC listening to this!
Joy Gryson, Designer
“Tongue Tied” by Grouplove
It's such a happy and fun song that it starts my day off on such a positive note, so as I am doing my routine in the morning of sit-ups, crunches and push-ups, it makes it so much easier to continue from one thing to the next!
“Blow Me (One last Kiss)” by Pink
I love to run to this song outside on the West Side Highway at the end of the day. It's a great way to release some of that day's pent up frustration, all the while getting me to the next mile!
“Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj
Because Olivia (my 10-year-old daughter) and I dance to this on the Wii Just Dance game — and it is probably THE most fun way to get some great cardio, while having fun with my girl!
Barry Jay, Barry's Bootcamp
“Lose Yourself” by Eminem
This song is a modern day classic. Eminem is a genius and the driving bass line and his emotion and lyrics push me to fight for my best moments working out. "Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment would you capture it or just let it slip?" THAT'S what I'm talking about! That's what I want my head thinking when I need to get through that next rep with weights or that next minute on the treadmill.
“Step by Step (Tony Moran Radio Edit)” by Whitney Houston
I miss Whitney. I loved her from the first time I heard her voice and she has always been able to move my spirit. I like this one for its clear message that is so totally relatable to working out. It's a journey and we get to our goals one step at a time and there will be challenging days.
“SexyBack (DJ Wayne Williams Ol' Skool Remix) by Justin Timberlake
Love me some Justin and this song speaks to me about getting in shape and being sexy. It's fun and love this ol' skool remix, Missy and Timbaland know how to get my body moving. Justin is also very sexy so it's motivating me to work out to him because the visual in my head is worth working towards!
Sonia Kashuk, Makeup Artist and Founder of Sonia Kashuk Beauty
“Otis” by Kanye West & Jay-Z
This song is perfect for starting a workout — as the tempo builds, so does my energy.
“Stronger” by Kanye West
This song has a great energetic, recurring beat that keeps me motivated.
“Where Have You Been” by Rhianna
I love the high energy, fast paced beat that keeps my heart rate up and gets me through the tough points of my workout.
Alyssa Campanella, Miss USA 2011
“Anything Could Happen” by Elie Goulding
Because those three words — anything could happen — affect every single person in their everyday life. Life can be very unexpected which makes it all the more mysterious.
“Paddle Battle” by Marco Beltrami from the film Soul Surfer
For me, certain film soundtracks really pump my adrenaline. This song is from the part of the film where shark attack survivor and surfer Bethany Hamilton is paddle battling for a wave against her rival competitor. The lyrics are in Hawaiian.
“Turn Up The Radio” by Madoonna (Richard Vission Speakers Blow Remix)
Because the song is incredibly upbeat with excellent bass, which is what I love when it comes to working out especially cardio. It was the Miss USA 2012 pageant on NBC's opening song and I have been addicted to it ever since.
Jordyn Wieber, American Artistic Gymnast, 2012 Olympics
“As Long As You Love Me” by Justin Bieber
“Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson,
“The Fighter” by Gym Class Heroes
I like these songs because they are upbeat and I listen to them on my way to practice to get pumped up and excited to work out. I work out at Twistars Gymnastics in Lansing, MI, and my favorite activity (besides gymnastics) is running outside with my sister!
