Basso & Brooke have proclaimed themselves the masters of digital print, and rightly so. The team crafted a reputation for themselves by using simple silhouettes with complicated prints.
It’s as though they took an inexpensive Zara dress to make a pattern, and then spent thousands of dollars on the fabric. This is something that may sound like a criticism, but in eccentric London, this type of minimalist design is a breath of fresh air.
This season, the designers (like so many others) noted 60’s and 70’s influences, but they took it to a modern place. These influences were reflected in the print, but not the cut, making the garments feel modern, while still sticking to their aesthetic.
Print details included handwritten scripts from Da Vinci, Tolstoy, and Balzac, mixed with animal prints and cartographic images, making for a romantic yet retro style.
