Unlike the Spring and Fall fashion show seasons, the Pre-Fall presentations aren’t wrapped in one clean swoop. They go on for weeks, which gives us time to digest the season’s spectrum. Here are 10 defining looks from the Pre-Fall 2011 collections which should provide some cues as to what to grab for the season.
Fur is in for the season, and no one does it like J. Mendel. Iconic designer Diane von Furstenberg brought back the wrap dress, color-blocking, and other 70s staples in her vibrant collection.
Neutrals always come around again on the runways, but color-blocking is just as integral to the Pre-Fall collections. A great example is this look from Jason Wu’s collection. Add a touch of feminine frill during the day with a bow-tie waist-cinching belt. 3.1 Philip Lim perfects pant detailing this season.
Show off your summer bod with a sheer look from Rag & Bone – it’s sexy without showing too much skin. Wear jewel tone accessories, like the ones we saw at Burberry Prorsum.
Go head-to-toe regal, Karl Lagerfeld-style – this means intricate embroidery and beading! Here’s a look from Chanel. Go for an abstract take on classic flowers, like this dress from print aficionado Erdem Moralioglu.
