Resort Report 2012: Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, and More

The 2012 Resort collections are just now getting into full swing and while it’s still too early to get a good feel of the season’s trends, here’s a recap of what has walked the runway thus far.

Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld kicked the season off in style with a show staged at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes on the French Riviera. With 70-plus looks, there’s plenty to choose from in the collection which, according to Lagerfeld, is “all about the women of Cannes, women who mix bathing suits with real pearls and diamonds. After all, you can’t wear fakes into the water.”

Oscar de la Renta: Inspired by Picasso‘s Cubist period, de la Renta showed a slew of Spanish-inspired ornate looks (think plenty of embroidery), many of which came complete with hats.

Rachel Zoe: 70s-inspired (think maxi dresses, thigh-high slits, flared trousers, cut-outs), the stylist’s sophomore collection seems to have been, once again, completely akin to Zoe’s signature look, making it a likely hit among her reality TV fans.

Bottega Veneta: The perfect balance of neutrals with bright pops, Tomas Maier can always be counted on to deliver when it comes to easy-to-wear pieces with deceptively complex construction. Impeccably tailored, the collection included both city and beach-ready looks.

Just Cavalli: It wouldn’t be Cavalli without some animal print, but this season, the 60s-inspired collection offered up some monochromatic brights and neutrals, making for softer options as well.
