Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Tongue Covers Complex Mag; Natalia Vodianova and Other Models Go Makeup Free

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s tongue is striking out on its own

Ever since Rosie Huntington-Whitely replaced Megan Fox as the lead actress in the Transformers franchise, her career’s been on a steep upward trajectory. Gone are the days when Little Miss Rosie was a piddling Victoria’s Secret model living in squalor and cloaked in anonymity. As the British model acquired commercial success, her status within the fashion industry also soared. All of a sudden, she was more than just a girl with a stunning face and stunning body, she was a multi-platform superstar, managing to win over two disparate consumer segments that very rarely agreed with one another: Rosie pleased both the fashion ladies and the bros. She could shoot a cover for Vogue UK and be listed on Harper Bazaar’s Best Dressed List while Maxim and FHM drooled all over themselves and proclaimed her the sexiest woman alive. Crudes and snobs could agree on something, for once, all thanks to Rosie. What a gal!

In fact, the actress/model’s career has reached such heights that her tongue has decided to strike out on its own and launch a spin-off career. Ever since Leighton Meester and Blake Lively‘s tongues tried to make it on their own on the cover of Rolling Stone, celebs have kept their clappers under wraps — until now. Rosie’s tongue landed the cover of the men’s mag, Complex. Styled as a strawberry, the muscular organ took center stage, giving Rosie’s eyes some much needed rest. Even Rosie’s hair took the opportunity to do its own thing and take some time off, but her boobs did stick around as supporting stars. The verdict? This is one tongue that isn’t ready for its own show: the cover definitely sours the cover girl’s fashion appeal, and I know that men can be a little dumb, but only the most one-dimensional, sex-driven guy could look at the Complex cover and not think that Rosie should have been the one in the spotlight, and that her tongue should have stayed in her mouth. Forget about Yves Saint Laurent’s red soles, you can now DIY Louboutins

If a multi-million dollar catfight over the color of a shoe sole between major fashion labels seems more than a little frivolous (even as a fashion news story), Tara Haughton, a sixteen-year-old girl in Ireland is selling some poetic justice: her stick-on Rosso Solini soles come in a variety of colors, but the red ones can make any pair of plain Jane pumps a little more Louboutiny. And since the French shoemaker is willing to spend millions to keep the red sole market all to itself, Haughton’s asking price for a little piece of the footwear status symbol ($22 for a pack of three soles) seems like a steal. Portraits of top models, warts and all

To celebrate the launch of the Viva Model agency in London, Vogue UK has released a gorgeous exhibit of un-retouched photographs of models wearing no makeup. Shot in black-and-white by Scott Trindle, the familiar faces appear without any makeup, hair, or styling. The pictures are more striking than most of the other un-retouched editorials I’ve seen, and I think it’s because the models aren’t trying to sell the concept of natural beauty: they went natural first, and let the beauty part come later.
