Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2011 Runway Review

It’s been quite the week for Elie Saab, not only did the red carpet-favored designer show his Fall 2011 Haute Couture collection, but Le Parfum, his debut fragrance, just launched at Harrods with a nationwide release slated for later this summer. Saab was inspired by his homeland, Lebanon, for the fragrance which includes notes of orange blossom, rose honey, jasmine, and cedar wood all of which tie well into the feminine designs he’s best known for. Saab’s signature aesthetic — almost formulaic at this point — was on full display at his couture show this season.

As per usual, there was little in the way of surprises in Saab’s lineup of flowing silk, tulle, and chiffon gowns that will undoubtedly make their way down red carpets the world over. The collection did feel a bit repetitive, but there’s no denying the appeal of the designer’s classic, embellished looks which this season, were also offered in a variety of sheer iterations.
