If there’s one thing I’ve learned at this point about events, it’s that Juicy Couture throws good ones – always. While nothing will top the one I went to back in Summer 2010 when I not only got to sit down to a dinner hosted by Erin Fetherston, but discovered the brand’s high-end Bird line, which I was unaware of until then (it launched Summer 2009 and is stocked at the likes of Bergdorf Goodman and on Net-a-Porter), the Spring 2012 preview was a close second.
Held at the Ziegler house, an Upper East Side mansion located at 2 East 63rd Street, I walked in to find none other than Joe Zee and Tim Gunn chatting amidst a packed crowd that was spread across multiple rooms. Only Juicy Couture could get permission to paint the walls of such a storied building so as to go along with their vibrant Spring 2012 collection.
Set atop color-blocked and striped platforms, models were outfitted in brightly colored stripes, tennis-inspired activewear, angora-tipped cardigans, gold chain-accented hoodies, stacked leather heels, perforated leather clutches, and color blocked clutches.
