Designer fashion label Ohne Titel and architectural firm Easton + Combs have teamed up for the fifth installment of the BOFFO Building’s fashion project this year. The story behind this project is combining art, fashion, and architecture under one roof. Pairing designers with architects, they are able to create a temporary retail environment that is unlike any other. In the past, designers have included Patrik Ervell, The Lake and Stars, and Graham Hudson. This year, which will mark its second annual showing, women’s fashion company Ohne Titel has taken the reigns in experimenting with different textures, colors, and methods. I got the chance to speak to one of the designers, Alexa Adams, and she described the project vividly for me. “By allowing us to experiment with material, structure, sound, and color, BOFFO has afforded us the opportunity to define the Ohne Titel aesthetic on a bigger scale. The collaboration with Easton + Combs projected the principles of our label into a visual experience and we learned something new about ourselves as designers through the process.”
Each year, this cultural event holds a competition for five fashion designers to partake in the project, showcasing their talents to the city of New York. Using a reappropriated storefront in the Tribeca area, these designers have the chance to engage in this great branding opportunity. With the official blessing by the CFDA, the BOFFO Building Fashion event is sure to continue its mission successfully in the years to come.
If you wish to see the exhibit for yourself, it will be open until December 14 in NYC at 57 Walker Street.
