Absolutely devastated that Lover won’t be presenting a runway of exquisite lace and whimsical Peter Pan collars at Australia Fashion Week next month? We know, we know, but if you’re living in the Sydney region, at least you can drown your sorrows in their beautiful Lydia collection at the brand’s new flagship store in Strand Arcade.
Alluringly rich ruby and teal shades are mixed with crisp whites and pale lilac, and the cuts are quintessentially Lover. Heavy on Peter Pan collars (literally, since this time they’re made of leather) and featuring more lace than Lydia’s frothy 1980s wedding dress, none of the pieces would look out of place in the wardrobes of loyal Lover disciples Rumi Neely and Alexa Chung. More Beetlejuice inspiration can be seen in sheer black shirts laced with Victorian ruffles and tailored tweed suiting, and is perhaps to answer for a decidedly un-Lover like high-necked plastic cape.
