Twitterati #Fashion Recap: Stars Mingle at the White House, Vogue Girls Are Inspired by Mean Girls, and More

Celebs Dress to the Nines for the 98th WHCA Dinner

This past Saturday Night, everyone who is anyone attended the 98th annual White House Correspondents Dinner. With a guest list that ranged from Diane Sawyer to Lindsay Lohan, the #White House trended among the fashion elite. Supermodel Irina Shayk expressed her gratitude via twitter, “I was so honored to be invited to the Annual Dinner of the White House Correspondents’ Association! It was an absolutely amazing experience for me.” One half of #Kimye, Kim Kardashian, tweeted, “Just landed in DC heading to the White House Correspondents’ dinner tonight with @KrisJenner! Very exciting!” Kim later retweeted a picture of herself (below) with Kris Jenner and Latin bombshell, Sofia Vergara

While the stars expressed their excitement at hanging with the Obamas via Twitter, they also made sure to dish some fashion talk. Some stars couldn’t stop themselves from dropping names, label names that is.

Mega stylist and fashion mogul Rachel Zoe tweeted, “Dressed in Valentino for the White House Correspondents’ dinner! xoRZ.” Sofia Vergara tweeted, “At the White House correspondents dinner wearing Lorraine Schwartz.” When maternity designer and former Vogue editor @lizlange tweeted, “Diane Sawyer so elegant in Donna Karan @dkny I presume. White House Correspondents’ Dinner,” DKNY PR Girl was quick to reply, “I think so2! RT.”

Unsurprisingly, the belle of the ball was Mrs. Obama who bared her shoulders in a colorful spring dress. The fabulous and opinionated @tomandlorenzo posted an image of the First Lady wearing Naeem Kahn

While the night’s fashion was, without a doubt, a big hit, not the same could be said for the diverse guest list. @MTV tweeted, “Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian are among many odd additions to the White House Correspondents Dinner guest list!” @Stylecaster didn’t beat around the bush, tweeting, “Weirdest Guest List Ever: Celebrities Attending The White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Red Carpet Fashion tweeted, “Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian are going to be at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner…?? Really???” Of course they are! #Twitterati’s recap wouldn’t be the same without them.

Met Ball Goes Live While the Vogue Girls Vow to Wear Pink

With only a couple of weeks until the #Met Ball, @voguemagazine tweeted, “Lights, Camera, Action: Watch the #MetGala red carpet live May 7 on http://Vogue.com, @amazon, and @metmuseum,” announcing to the Twitterverse that yes, for the first time ever, the Met Ball will be streamed live, cluing the rest of us into the lives of the fashion elite. Curious as to what they will be wearing? Fashionista.com shares, “We hear all the Vogue girls will be wearing pink to the Met Ball.” How very Mean Girls of them. W’s Edward Enninful shared, “At my fitting for the MET Ball. #balenciaga xoxo.” Red Carpet Fashion gave us a lot of fashion to look forward to when tweeting, “Lana Del Rey will be joining Joseph Altuzarra on the red carpet at the Met Gala…,” while, “Isabel Lucas will join Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.”

Christian Louboutin Brings Cinderella back in Fashion

While some of us celebrate Disney by popping in an old DVD, @WWD tells us that “Christian Louboutin will celebrate Cinderella by creating his own interpretation of the infamous ‘glass slipper.'” Excited much? The fashion world certainly is. Fashionista.com tweeted, “Christian Louboutin to put his magic touch on Cinderella’s glass slipper.” Elle Magazine added, “Christian Louboutin’s ‘crossed paths’ with Cinderella.” In Style‘s EIC Ariel Foxman asked his fashion followers, “Will you buy the Louboutin Cinderella-inspired glass slipper?” Former Playboy bunny, @HollyMadison “definitely will,” the starlet tweeted an enthusiastic “aggggghhhhhhh!!!!” upon hearing the news from . However, not everyone seemed that enthused. Lucky Magazine tweeted, “Was just thinking how impractical that shoe was.”

Betsey Johnson Files for Bankruptcy

Not all Twitter news is happy news. One of the biggest fashion bummers occurred when @WWD broke, “Betsey Johnson LLC has filed for Chapter 11, with a bulk of the designer’s boutiques set to close [SUB REQ.].” Fashionista.com followed with, “Betsey Johnson files for bankruptcy, 350 employees expected to lose their jobs…so sad.” So sad indeed.
