Temperley London Red Label Spring 2013 Runway Review

Her SS/13 catwalk show took place at the exquisite Grand Connaught Rooms, London, and just like every other fashion season, an invite to her show is what all celebrities crave. Temperley also counts the Royals amongst her fans, and even Pippa Middleton has formerly graced that front row. This time, however, celebrities in attendance were a little less regal and included popstar Pixie Lott and model Jade Parfitt.

This season’s collection is inspired by femininity and a timeless method of dressing, and its goal is to celebrate beauty in fabric, color, and form. So, naturally, the collection consists of clean silhouettes, graphic shapes, digital decorative prints, and engineered graphic silk jacquards in a cool palette of whites, china blues, soft aqua greens, and bold reds.

Temperley showcased a range which was also evidently inspired by the fifties, as several big patterned fifties skirts hit that runway. Whispy jacquards, stripes, and sheer material were also the ordre du jour. Towards the end of the show, it couldn’t help but feel like things had gone a little Gaga, as breathtaking and almost bridal flowing white dresses, complete with wide brim hats covered with long white veils hit the floor.

One thing for sure is that the collection definitely toyed with the idea of elegance from the ladylike dressing right down to those dainty net gloves.
