Miz by Izzy Camilleri marked the first show of the season and featured 60s-inspired looks for the beautiful boomer ladies. Houndstooth, cinched waists and faux fur hats were the order of the evening in neutral tones of black and white.
Chloe comme Parris showed off its ode to 90s grunge with menswear-inspired blouses, chains, hunter green leathers and rebellious stockings — all set to the tunes of Kurt Cobain.
As one of the most anticipated shows of the week, Pink Tartan didn’t disappoint as it continued its retro love affair with cocoon coats and shirt dresses in a creative mix of kaleidoscopic prints. Hot pinks, deep plums, emerald greens and regal royal blues featured prominently while the occasional pop of leopard print could be seen rearing its ferocious fabric with a modern twist. Worth noting, all of the models donned blonde wigs and bandeaus for a Stepford Wife vibe as designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran drew on her “favourite disturbing blondes” as muses: Constance of American Horror Story and Marnie Edgar of Hitchcock’s Marnie.
David Dixon
Day two kicked off with David Dixon who, lamenting the inequalities faced by women, attempted to fix the world one gown at a time with his feminism-forward collection. The runway was awash with the armour of professional girl power: pencil skirts, peplum tops and brocade coats, again in neutral, power-hungry black and white.
Line Knitwear was all about bundled up beauty as design duo John Muscat and Jennifer Wells gave some of their knits the gilded treatment with sheer metallic blouses, gold prints and oversized sequin adornments on sweaters.
Meanwhile, Sid Neigum entered the Matrix with his selection of black trenches, leather and sky-high Horton Hears a Who hair. You know what I’m talking about…
