There was an 80s/early 90s feel to much of this season’s Balmain collection. In addition to the sculpted power shoulder that has become the brand’s signature, Spring 2014 brought with it heavy gold chains, high waist skirts finished with big gold buttons and paired with coordinating jackets, quilted separates, colorful herringbone, a check print, heavy metallic belts, draped denim and off-the-shoulder tops and dresses. As a counter balance, there were plenty of skin-grazing sexy minis, many with drop waists and sheer crystal-embellished skirts, all of which were very high on sex appeal.
