Helmut Lang
This season was all about layering basic closet staples at Helmut Lang. The color palette was kept in the neutral territory and with the exception of a geometric print, all of the pieces were monochrome. As for silhouettes, they were elongated and roomy, creating an overarching androgynous effect.

Missoni
This season, Missoni was inspired by birds, which translated into plumage details, wing-like structured shoulders and scale patterns woven into their signature prints.

Narciso Rodriguez
Fittingly, Narciso Rodriguez was inspired by the ease of a T-shirt for his collection this season. Clean cuts and colorblocked motifs made for casual and wearable looks and the collection featured a welcome mix of neutral and saturated shades of purple, red and orange.

Tory Burch
The dots seen on Tory Burch’s looks stemmed from her inspiration, which this season was Bauhaus photographer Gertrud Arndt who had a number of self-portraits in which she wore a dotted veil. Geometric prints complemented the dotted motifs, which were just as prevalent on the ready-to-wear pieces as they were on the accessories. Most of the looks were cut trim for modest silhouettes, most of which would be great for office-wear.

Prabal Gurung
This season, many of Prabal Gurung’s pieces came with beautiful surface embellishments, which served to elevate basic tops and trousers to a new level of sophistication. Pieces that weren’t embellished were fashioned out of intricate fabrics and boasted innovative draping, making for one of Pre-Fall’s standout collections, especially in the eveningwear department.
