Designer Kris Van Assche showed one of the season’s best collections. Staying on trend with the running sportswear theme, there were fur-lined hooded jackets, casual print day suits, denim separates and jeans and parkas, all of which were shown alongside classic suiting.

Givenchy
Men who normally favor Nike now have an equal affinity for Givenchy, thanks to Riccardo Tisci who has elevated the brand's sportswear over the past seasons. Given the basketball backdrop that Fall 2014 was shown against and the recent Nike partnership announcement, that shows no signs of changing anytime soon. The collection was, in fact, at its best when it stuck to sportswear – hooded puffer jackets, white sneakers, sweatshirts with bright colorblocked bands (and ones with basketball prints…this season’s Rottweiler…) and loosely draped trousers.

With very few exceptions, Véronique Nichanian stuck to a dark palette this season, showing a stellar collection that included some of the most wearable looking men’s leather pants ever to grace a runway. Silhouettes were tailored and nearly every look teetered between sportswear and after-dark wear, making for a versatile collection of closet staples.

Kenzo
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon noted that they were inspired by workwear for their collection this season, which translated into chunky boots, beanies, hoodies, track pants and lots of colorblocking. The designers succeeded in melding the fashion-forward – bright colors and abstract prints – with wearable sportswear.

This season’s Lanvin collection was marked by killer outerwear – though some of it may be better suited for women than men. From belted trenches to cropped hooded jackets, the outerwear was across the board gorgeous. Silhouettes veered towards the slim side, underscoring the feminine feel of much of the collection, which in keeping with the trend, also included a slew of man bags.
