The Scene: “It” girl Lupita Nyong’o caused a media frenzy front row at the designer’s intimate show.
The Inspiration: Surrealist childhood portraits of German photographer Loretta Lux.
The Look: Focused on minimalist knitwear done in a rusty fall and neutral palette, the designer showed clean-lined coats — the most notable of which were fashioned out of a fuzzy-textured fabric — and a variety of lean dresses, many of which were made with multicolored yarn panels and long sleeves. There was an artisanal feel to much of the collection which, combined with the flat combat boots the models wore, gave a dowdiness to many of the looks.
The Accessories: Combat boots in tall and mid-heights.
The Beauty: Hair was parted in the middle and lightly tousled for natural movement. Makeup was minimal and muted.
The Takeaway: Unfortunately, this season lacked the polish we’ve come to expect from Calvin Klein.
