Mark Fast Shows Some Nifty Knits for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: Peaches Geldof, Eliza Doolittle and Nicola Roberts were among those who braved the cold to attend designer Mark Fast’s show.

The Inspiration: Knitwear — the designer’s signature.

The Look: A sporty and very vibrant collection, Mark Fast showed bright shades of orange, red, blue and purple along with plenty of cozy, chunky and layered knits. Silhouettes were streamlined, so despite the layering, the collection had an overall clean and sophisticated effect. Outerwear was particularly strong with the designer showing a beautiful cinched at the waist, loosely tailored orange coat with an oversized collar and wide arms, blanket coats in popping colors and jackets with oversized hoods. Also holding high appeal were the long knit scarves, some of which came fringed. Also worth noting were the designer’s bodycon knit dresses, which while not for everyone, were certainly unique.

The Accessories: Not the most delicate footwear, including chunky gold and white lace-up flats, which were worn with socks.

The Beauty: Natural makeup and slightly undone hair.

The Takeaway: Fast is known for his knitwear and he delivered some great pieces ranging from the classic — as with his fringed scarves —to the more out-of-the-box with his cut-out bodycon knit dresses, thereby offering a little something for everyone.
