Roksanda Ilincic Pieces Together a Colorful Collection for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Inspiration: A handful of colorful confetti, also slightly muted versions of primary colors.

The Look: Zoomed-out graphics and piecey looks comprised much of Roksanda Ilincic’s collection. Dresses felt super cut-and-paste, but still cohesive, with additional panels added to the waistline along with a slight half-peplum tossed onto the side of a dress. Largely done in the blue/red/white color family and just beyond (cerulean blue and maroon), the collection felt ready for both work and fun. The finishing dress — a strapless number with multicolored matte gem-like 3D embellishment — was probably our dream dress back in elementary school.

The Accessories: Belts were the accessory centerpiece of the collection featuring gray waist-surrounding straps with a large gold “buckle.” There were also colorblocked loafers and peachy-beige headbands.

The Beauty: Dark tan shadow on the lids, but otherwise a blank face.

The Takeaway: Piecey doesn’t have to feel incoherent with Ilincic at the helm.
