Highlights from Fashion Week Australia, Day 2

Talulah

“This is not just a side project,” asserts Kelli Wharton, creative director of Talulah, of the label’s newer swim and resort collection. Opting to show beachwear rather than their original ready-to-wear line was all about putting “beautiful girls with healthy figures” on the runway. ‘Crystal Tropics’ Spring/Summer 2014, Wharton explains, has a modern bohemian vibe; “This collection is sort of like ‘global traveller’ and that’s very Byron Bay for us. [The Talulah woman] picks up trinkets from around the world and then she has her own style.” As ever for Talulah, feminine prints are key, running from digital florals collaged with snakeprint to stamped or graphic tile prints the likes of which might be spotted on the walls of an exotic temple or perhaps poolside and a glitzy hotel.
